For P-day this week, we decided to go to Rain Forest Cafe. It's one of the few American restaurants (other than Burger King, KFC & McDonalds) we have here. Both of our sister missionaries are from other countries (Portugal and Argentina), so they had never heard of Rain Forest Cafe. It was so fun to take them. They were so excited, they were just like little kids. They had never seen anything like it! We loved it too!
We ordered the Volcano and when the guy brought it out, he was chanting
"Vol-can-o, Vol-can-o, Vol-can-o!"
SO MUCH FUN!
Now for the BIG NEWS!
This week was the baptism of Veronica Mamani!
The red headed Baptist has arrived at St Paul's Bay!
We love Veronica so much! She has such a sweet spirit about her! Veronica is from Peru.
She came here about 4 years ago. She met the missionaries and took a few of the missionary
discussions. Her work schedule forced
her to quit meeting with them. A couple of months ago, she ran into
the Sister Missionaries, and she told them she wanted to be baptized. They taught her all of the missionary lessons and she was eager to join the church!
I was privileged to be one the speaker at her baptism and Veronica requested that Elder Curtis (Steve) perform the baptism.
A very special spirit was there.
Veronica was confirmed a member of the church at Fast and Testimony Meeting on Sunday. It was a beautiful meeting with several visitors. One was a young man who is now living in Canada. He was raised in Malta and came back for a visit. He shared his conversion story. He has been a member for a little over a year. Joining the church has changed his life. Returning to Malta and finding such a large congregation was very touching for him.
A young mom with her two daughters from Sweden, were also visiting. They came to Malta for her daughter's gymnastics competition. She stood up, shared her testimony, and recounted the story of her conversion. I was substituting for the Primary president, so I invited her daughters to join me in Primary after the sacrament meeting. However, she had to decline as they needed to leave early. Her family, who had traveled with her to watch the competition, were upset about her joining the church. Despite their disapproval, she was determined to attend the Sacrament Meeting that morning. Her family chose not to enter but waited outside patiently as she and her daughters went to church.
There are always a lot of visitors in church on Sunday. They are from all over the world. A lot of them are vacationing from Europe and occasionally, there are some from the US. I really enjoy meeting them and hearing their different life stories.
I snapped this picture because I thought these colorful doors had so much charm and character.

I love how the Churches here often have such stunning architecture and serene surroundings. We always enjoy seeing this one on our daily walks.
