MTC
We entered the MTC on May 20, 2024
The traditional picture by the map pointing at the teeny tiny little islands of Malta
The MTC Campus is beautiful. Here are a few pictures we took as we wandered through the campus.
Many buildings feature large picture windows. The majority of these photographs were taken through those windows.
I like this one because it has a view of the Harmon Building where my Mom used to work.
We were wowed by this two-story Chandelier Sculpture, which represents the Plan of Salvation. The globe symbolizes the world, and the surrounding long white strands, embellished with fiber-optic lights and small cloth-like pieces, depict spirits descending to earth and ascending back to heaven. It is stunning.
All the senior couples who entered the MTC on May 20th.
One of my favorite things about the MTC was making new friends with the other senior couples who were training with us.
We were in the Campbell District. Pictured from left to right were the Jeff and Lora Campbell: England - Leeds, (Curtis: Italy- Rome), Sharla and Paul Inglish - Ecuador - Quito and Laura and Robert Gailey: Alaska - Anchorage.
Campbell District with our afternoon instructors, Jessica De Latorre and Chase Aguinaga. We love these instructors! They were super enthusiastic and fun teachers.
We also loved our morning instructors, Sister Christensen and Brother Monroe.
We also had MLS instructors, Sister Zeidner and Barlow the second week, but somehow, we missed getting a copy of our picture with them.
The Smith's were our teaching companions. We loved working with them.
They were going to Malta, Montana!
Coincidentally, the Gailey's in our district live right behind Pat Sorenson. She is Cindy Morris' mother. Cindy and Tim are our Mission leaders in Italy.
We had a variety of different classes even a marriage class.
I thought this was some good advice.
We had a few evenings and weekends off and enjoyed getting together with our Utah friends and relatives.
Heather works at the MTC and she met us one day for lunch.
It was so fun to visit with her.
We took our cute granddaughter, Kaiya to Brick Oven.
We had a get together for dinner with Steve's Mom and siblings.
Riley and Sarah were our chauffeurs the day we arrived, and we got this cute picture of them with Grandma Curtis.
My cousin Kathleen Wallace invited us over for lunch on Saturday.
We met our cute granddaughter, Renee at the Creamery.
We were also able to get together with Trish and Mike.
Another picture of Heather in her counseling office.
No trip to Utah is complete without visiting Waffle Love. We met Riley and Sarah there for our treat before heading back to Houston!
We had the opportunity to attend a session at the Orem Temple. By chance, I ran into Anita (Kopp) Stout there. She lives in Indiana and had just been sealed to her husband. It was a tender mercy to meet her in the temple that day. It was heartwarming to see her and learn that her husband had not only become a member of the church but had also been sealed to her on the same day. Since we were inside the temple, unfortunately, I couldn't take a photo.
I couldn't resist taking a picture of these beautiful mountains!
Most of the MTC buildings featured large murals on their walls. During our free time, one of our favorite activities was to wander through the buildings and reflect on the stories captured in each magnificent mural. Although photographs cannot do them justice, we are sharing many of them below:
