Back to Houston and then to ROME!

 More Miracles:

We were initially scheduled to return to Houston on a 4:00 PM flight on Friday, which would have us home by 8:30 PM. However, we needed to get back earlier to finish packing. Two weeks prior, a severe storm had struck our area the night before we flew out for the MTC, causing widespread damage with tornadoes that caused severe damage to several homes in Bridgeland, but fortunately, our home was spared. However, there was a power outage that lasted several days, making it impossible to get our packing done. Hoping to get home sooner, we changed our flight and, luckily, managed to get on an earlier one. On our way to the SLC Airport, we heard about more storms in Houston. We were notified that our flight was delayed by 2.5 hours, which was disheartening.  But then we saw that our original flight was canceled, and we felt so blessed that we had changed our flight to the earlier one. Changing flights turned out to be a huge blessing, as we wouldn't have made it home until the next day otherwise.

Once home, we packed through the night and ensured the house and pool were secure. We also managed a brief farewell visit with our wonderful neighbors, Larry and Terri, who had looked after our home during the power outage while we were away. They finished our laundry, stored our food when the freezer failed, looked after the pool and cleaned the fridge after everything defrosted. They even stocked milk for us so we could have cereal the next morning. Their kindness was extraordinary, and we will miss them greatly.

By Saturday morning, we were packed and ready to go!

Lisa and Shawn Christensen graciously drove us to the airport and even treated us to a meal on the way. They are awesome! We love them so much!

After all these months, it was suddenly becoming real!

  Off to Rome we go!
