Curtis Mission to Malta

Christmas lights, gelato and a baptism are just a few of the highlights of this magnificent week! On Monday night, the Vizzinis invited us to their home for dinner. They are a lovely family from Africa. Very few people invite us to dinner here; the only ones who have so far have been Americans. We had the missionaries step in for us and teach our English class that night.  We really enjoyed the delicious food and more importantly, getting to know them. It was a rare treat for us to spend the evening with this cute little family. Tuesday night Institute Earlier this month, the mission office challenged all the missionaries to test their smoke detectors.  They had to do it within 10 minutes of our weekly Zoom meeting and send a picture to the senior couples.  You can see Steve in this picture testing ours! Sad good-byes, happy hellos and Christmas parties that make the season bright! After 3 transfers (approximately 4.5 months) we had to say Good-bye to Elder Wilding.  He has served with us longer than any other missionary, so we are going to miss him!  He has done a great job serving as District Leader.  We were fortunate that he extended his mission for one transfer, but he is now headed home to Idaho.   When we loaded up his bags, we thought the largest one was extremely heavy.  They only allow 20 kg for the large bags here, which is 44 lbs.  He said he had weighed it, and it was fine.  He either had bad eyes or an extremely inaccurate scale!  When we got to the airport, it weighed 30 kg!  They charge 12 Euros per kg that you go over, so he was looking at paying 120 Euros for his luggage.  They let us go to an area with a table to sort things out.  I was surprised at what he had in his bag!  The huge Panettone Cake and th...
