Curtis Mission to Malta

  We flew into Malta early Tuesday. A view from the plane. Upon our arrival at the airport, the Spitzers were there to welcome us. They are the couple whom we are replacing. Sadly, we didn't get a picture with them. Using their car and a taxi, we managed to transport everyone and our luggage to the apartment. After a brief tour of the apartment, we set out to explore the town. Next, we visited the Go Internet Store to set up our internet service and buy a cell phone plan. The store was located in a shopping center near the grocery store, so Karen guided me through the huge grocery store to help me locate items. The internet store clerk seemed to be new, which resulted in the account setup taking several hours. We made it to Rome!  We arrived on Sunday evening at 5:00 PM.  Elder and Sister Anglesey were supposed to pick us up, but we waited for quite some time and they didn't show up.  We realized that we didn't know how to contact them with our US phones, so we just kept waiting.  And then, by a small miracle, my cousin, Cindy and her husband Tim Morris, (the mission president) showed up. They were just returning from a trip and were walking through the airport and ran into us.  What a wonderful surprise!  It was great to see them, and they were able to call the Anglesey's who were waiting at the wrong terminal.  They came right over and picked us up!  We were able to snap this cute picture before Morris's took off.  The Anglesey's had a nice size van for all of our luggage.   They drove us to the Vicchrilli's Apartment, where Sue and David Vicchrilli had a delicious meal waiting for us.
